| Music is a powerful universal language. It profoundly influences children, their emotional development and educational capabilities. Playing an instrument gives children the ability to learn and express themselves creatively. |
|
| The Miami Conservatory of Music (MCM) is an institution specifically designed to provide your child with quality musical training. Talented and dedicated children, ages 5 - 18, are prepared by the end of MCM's program to reach performance skills necessary for higher educational programs in music. Consequently, the conservatory eases the transition and serves as the liaison between beginning instruction and professional organizations. |

Lessons Private lessons for students age 5 through adults. The Miami Conservatory of Music offers individual lessons to learn a musical instrument or take your playing to the next level. We offer music instruction in piano, voice, guitar, violin, viola, cello, flute, saxophone and percussion (drums). It is recommended that students have their own instrument (rented or owned) to practice and bring to lessons. Students are required to practice at home between lessons. Daily practice is vital to musical progress. The amount of practice time is discussed with the student depending on their age and skill level.

However, for every student, the two most important complementary classes to take are Music Theory and Music Appreciation. Music Theory class aids in the students understanding of music construction. Music Appreciation focuses on an academic approach to learning music, and includes listening tabs and music history. Additionally, advanced students can also benefit from taking ensemble classes.

Group classes (see program) These courses (keyboard, theory and music appreciation) are designed for children who want to play an instrument for the first time. Because of the group setting, students will learn from each other and have fun too. At the end of the session and on the teacher’s recommendation, the students should be ready to enter into a private lesson curriculum. |
