Music Discovery 2012

Children (4 – 11 years old)

3 Sessions of 2 Weeks

Come join us in a fun musical adventure this summer! This camp is the perfect way for children with little or no experience to explore music in an inspiring setting, with the guidance of outstanding professionals.

Children are grouped by ages 4 - 6 and 7 - 11 years old in small classes of 6 students minimum and maximum of 10.

Each session will have a different theme:

• Session 1: Music Around the World
• Session 2: Instrumental Discovery
• Session 3: Music Through the Ages

Students will discover new instruments and music styles, a hands-on-approach to developing and enhancing musical concepts, skills and expression through songs, games, instrument playing, live performances and demonstrations provided either by the teacher, a guest performer or by attending a rehearsal of a work in progress at the conservatory,. In addition, children will be introduced to the fundamentals of music such as pitch, rhythm, melody music reading and more.

The last day of each 2 week-session, the young musicians will give a performance on the instrument they learned.

By the end of each camp, students will have expanded their knowledge of music, discover one or two instruments they really like and could pursue further learning.
